Background from center4plasticsurgery.com.
Dr. Sandra Bouzaglou is a plastic surgeon and the founder of The Center for Plastic Surgery and Med Spa in Lexington, Kentucky, which also has an office in Newport Beach, California. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised in Southern California, she studied at the University of California, Los Angeles, earned her medical degree at Chicago Medical School, completed a general surgery residency at the University of Iowa and then a plastic surgery residency at the University of Kentucky.
She has been in practice since 1990 and opened her own outpatient surgery center in 1998. For about the last eight years she has operated in that center under local anesthesia with oral sedation. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and The Aesthetic Society. Her work includes breast surgery, body contouring and facial plastic surgery, along with nonsurgical treatments at her med spa.
She wants you to feel comfortable with your surgeon: able to have a real conversation, ask your questions and understand exactly what they plan to do. She suggests asking friends, not just going off Google.
She is selective about who has surgery. She looks closely at your health, wants your blood pressure under control, and gets preoperative labs ahead of time and medical clearance when there's any question.

Shorts0:28Questions to ask before you pick a plastic surgeon
Don't just go off of Google. She suggests asking friends who have seen the surgeon, and asking about qualifications, which procedures they do routinely, how they do them, and their complication and infection rates. General information, not medical advice.
Shorts0:35Why she doesn't operate on everyone
She does many procedures under local anesthesia with oral sedation, but she is selective. She wants patients healthy, with blood pressure under control, sometimes with medical clearance, and preoperative labs done ahead of time.
Shorts0:39When to talk about a breast reduction
Living with back or neck pain from heavy breasts? She explains when a breast reduction comes up, and why she sees it as making breasts proportional to the chest wall, not just a lift. General information, not medical advice.
Shorts0:45Why residency couldn't break her
What her plastic surgery residency at the University of Kentucky was like, why five years of general surgery beforehand helped her through the long nights, and having a child during her chief year.
Shorts0:30Why her general surgery background matters
What she wants you to understand before a consultation: experience. She talks about how her general surgery background, including fluids and electrolytes, emergencies and the airway, shaped the way she practices.
